1998 SchwabLINK Mutual Fund Trading : Usability Tests for IM Trading
Usability Tests evaluate the User Interface design. The tests indicate how easy and intuitive it will be for an Investment Manager to use the functions and features of the trading module. Three interactive test scenarios were developed to walk a user through different levels of trading complexity.
Testing Procedures and Navigation
To imitate the process of a working trading module, screen-by-screen illustrations are used to depict the steps of executing a trade. The test subject is presented a trading screen and asked to perform different tasks of placing a trade. The subject must click on the appropriate 'hot area' in the illustration to trigger the correct action. For example: if the subject must enter a stock symbol, he must click on the correct empty cell in the trading grid to take him to the next screen displaying the filled in symbol.
Testing Guide Print Out
The testing guide was created for developers and the testing monitor. The Testing guide is a step-by-step explanation for every action and every screen for all three Usability Test Scenarios. For each step there is a screen number, a description of that action, and the clickable 'hot zone' that will advance to the next Screen. Please view and print Usability Testing Guide to walk you through all the testing scenarios.

*Note: These usability tests, which were performed on 9/30/97, depict a version of the trading module which is now obsolete. Some of the features and functionality in this presentation have been recently changed or eliminated.
